Plus, the water is shallow at Crab Island, and most passengers don’t mind the cooler water temperatures when the water is kneeling deep.

April

Average Water Temp: 66–70°F

Is it too cold to swim in Destin in April? April is a transition month. The weather is beautiful, and while the water is warming up, it’s still cool for extended swimming. Many guests are comfortable swimming later in the month, especially on sunny days. However, it’s a popular month at Crab Island!

May

May is when Destin really starts to shine. The water becomes comfortably warm, and Crab Island season kicks off in full.
